I don't even have my controller connected to my drum module, so I'm mot triggering any notes in the game, so I sometimes play the song a little different, like playing the fills different if I like. GregI play my drums to Rock Band practice mode with the game drums muted. The downside of the RockBand tracks is the charting method vs sheet music: it won't help you learn sheet music, but if you can "read" RB charts, you can be up to speed and play a lot of songs in no time. Somehow Harmonix is able to do it and deliver - for $1.99 (sometimes $0.99) - a song where you can remove any instrument (drum, bass, guitar, vocals). I haven't tried anything besides the drum mixes but, if the guitar and bass tracks are like they are it's unequaled as far as trying to match tones and dial in the album sound. The ability to slow parts down is really great and just the fact that you get to play to the real tracks is fun in and of itself. It's just been a humbling but fun experience so far with drums and this software can help. That's probably been the hardest with drums for me cause I find I have to memorize everything and I'm used to being able to sheet music or a lead sheet and cheat some for stuff I don't really play a lot. It's great that you can see it scroll as you hear it. It's great to follow along though, I normally hook it up to my module and watch the notation. I understand the issues with licensing something like that and we probably won't see it happen. I play guitar, bass and drums in that order and I would like some kind of combo package that you could get. It's a great program though but, the major turnoff for me was that I have to buy each instrument separate. I do listen and try to play a lot of what's on there but, I already have a bookshelf full of guitar/bass/piano sheet music from most of the artists on there. I'm mainly R&B/Hip Hop/Funk and there's not a lot to offer that way. Overall the library is okay it just doesn't have a lot of what I'm looking for right now. I only bought two songs originally I want you back - Jackson 5 and Tender Surrender- Steve Vai. I've had it on my Iphone for some months now. Here goes one recording that I posted in YouTube playing with Deep Purple! So I think it is a must have! The software is free, and the songs are reasonable priced. The drum chart is displayed as you play so it is convenient and accurate.Īnd is nice to play along with the original band! You can record your performance directly in the software, but I did not use it, so I cannot comment on that. A built in mixer is included and also a metronome. There is a loop function that is good for difficult parts and also a slowdown feature. I use the free software in my Mac and iPhone/IPad and works fine. The list of songs for drums is increasing little by little. The issued a claim and I had to justify twice. One problem that I had was with copyright when putting my performance in YouTube. I purchased some music from Jammit and it is very good! For older recordings, the drums leaks a bit in the band channel due to the recording process, but it is not disturbing.
